Starting graduate level classes this course focused on gentrification in the Little Haiti area in Miami. Gentrification was defined as the process whereby the character of a poor urban area is changed by wealthier people moving in, improving housing, and attracting new businesses, typically displacing current inhabitants in the process.

The mission was to keep the cultural traditions of the area alive and design a welcoming environment for the residents in Little Haiti, Miami.
